Pasadena, CA — In spite of news of layoffs and a looming economic recession, biotech professionals don’t have it as bad as many may think, according to BiotechCrossing (www.biotechcrossing.com).

BiotechCrossing, the biotechnology field’s fastest-growing job board, with more than 3,000 Biotech jobs, including positions for clinical research associates, biostatisticians, and biomarker scientists, among others, has added more than 1,000 jobs to its listings in just the last month.

The weakening economy and recession fears have, of course, created job losses. According to CNN, the job losses seen during the first quarter of this year are the worst in five years. The job losses have affected many industries, with manufacturing losing 52,000 jobs, construction losing 39,000 jobs, and retail losing 34,000 jobs.

Despite these dismal numbers, however, the biotech industry is going strong, with hundreds of new jobs having been added to BiotechCrossing in recent weeks.

BiotechCrossing’s listings indicate that there is a large concentration of biotech jobs in Massachusetts, with 469 jobs, that there are more than 500 jobs in California, and that more than 100 jobs are available per state in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
