Geneticist/Molecular Biologist Scientist

The candidate will provide scientific, engineering, and technical assistance (SETA) support to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The candidate is requested to help build an emerging program to understand the relationship between human gene expression and performance in various military disciplines. The qualified candidate should possess significant (4 years) of laboratory experience in understanding genetic analysis, epigenetics, metabolomics, and phenotype-genotype relationships. A PhD in molecular biology, neurology, cognitive science, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, or other relevant field is required, while postdoctoral or equivalent industry experience is desired. Each applicant should have a deep knowledge of emerging trends in DNA sequencing and ideally the candidate would have some knowledge or experience in clinical molecular diagnostic platform development, to include familiarity with implantable or wearable health monitoring systems. The ideal applicant should have excellent verbal and written skills as well as a willingness to learn completely new research subjects (as needed) to support the DARPA BTO mission. Finally, the position will require interaction with epigenetics and molecular diagnostics world leaders in both industry and academia.
Candidate must have or be able to obtain an active security clearance sufficient to allow unsupervised entrance and work within the DARPA facility. Occasional travel of up to week’s duration away from DARPA HQ, Arlington, VA, may be required.
