Job Description:
Position Summary:
We are looking for a Scientist 1 level individual with research and development experience in molecular biology, oncology, immunology, or relevant fields. As a scientist at Illumina, you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and execute projects that could impact patient lives. You will plan, initiate, and execute research projects with the focus of developing genomic assays that will benefit the scientific and clinical community.
Responsibilities
Lead internal and external research collaborations. This includes planning the project, executing the experiments, collaborating with bioinformaticians to analyze the data, and drawing the appropriate conclusions to plan the next steps.
Develop NGS assays for RNA analysis to study tumor microenvironment.
Conduct clear and concise presentations to colleagues, Supervisor, and Senior Management.
Maintain deep understanding of the scientific field in order to plan for new projects.
Work closely with marketing, development, and bioinformatics team.
Maintain an organized laboratory notebook.
Other duties as determined by the management team.
Requirements:
Must be able to lead research projects in a highly dynamic environment
Ability to innovate and possess strong critical thinking
Strong scientific background required with preference for those with expertise in oncology
Be able to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize activities
Experience in RNA assays and RNA-sequence analysis is preferred
Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills
Must be organized and keep clear records of experiments and data.
Education:
Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or relevant discipline is required
Industry or post-doctoral fellow experience is not required but preferred
