Seeking a passionate and talented Research Scientist to join the Translational Sciences organization at Bristol-Myers Squibb (Lawrenceville, NJ site). Responsibilities: This position will support exploratory clinical biomarker studies with a focus on immuno-oncology programs. The candidate will participate in a highly collaborative and interactive group with researchers from various disciplines within the Translational Medicine and Drug Discovery teams to develop and execute novel experimental approaches to characterize the immune cell component of patient samples. A successful candidate will demonstrate an innovative research-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for driving scientific discovery in a dynamic scientific environment. Experienced in performing cellular immunology research is highly desired. Emphasis will be placed on designing, developing, and performing robust ex vivo phenotyping flow cytometry assays as well as cellular assays that incorporate functional readouts, including antigenic stimulation, proliferation, cytokine production, and cytotoxicity using multi-parameter flow cytometry and related technologies. Individuals should be interested in working in a challenging and fast paced environment to impact clinical research programs. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate scientific results and ideas to aid in the development of clinical biomarkers to support the translational research efforts at BMS. Qualifications B.S. or M.S. in a biology-related field (preferably immunology), and 5 (B.S.) or 2 (M.S) years of relevant experience in industrial and/or academic research laboratories Extensive hands-on experience developing, implementing, and running highly multiplexed flow cytometry (8 colors), required. Candidate should be well versed in the flow cytometry analysis & visualization with appropriate software packages (e.g. FlowJo) with the opportunity to perform and analyze 20 parameter flow cytometry experiments. Proficiency in developing and executing ex vivo phenotyping flow cytometry assays as well as functional immune cell assays such as T-cell proliferation, cytokine production, Luminex, ELISPOT, and ELISA. Expertise in immune cell isolation from whole blood (tissues or tumors is highly valuable) and experience with primary cell culture techniques. Experience in cell separation techniques including magnetic bead enrichment/depletions and using a cell sorter is not necessary but desired. Flexibility and interest in learning/developing new techniques and skills in accordance with the research program needs. Related experimental techniques or exposure to support molecular research/genomics or immunohistochemistry (IHC) are a plus. Position requires ability to work independently and as part of a larger team. Therefore, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
