Essential Functions:

POSITION SUMMARY

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately to study molecular and genetic mechanisms of normal development and diseases of the genitourinary and bladder nervous system in the Jain Lab at the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis.   We are investigating the basis for heterogeneity in progenitor populations during different stages of development, injury and regeneration using single cell or bulk population sequencing.   One objective is to build gene regulatory networks that will help generate the blueprint for formation of key structures of the kidney.   We wish to determine how this information can be used to design or engineer kidney substructures from pluripotent stem cells in vitro (iPSCs) and for therapy, toxicity screening and mechanistic understanding of patients with congenital kidney defects.  Experience in analysis of gene expression datasets using bulk or single cell next generation sequencing technologies and wet lab work is preferred.   Already existing resources include exome sequencing data of more than 150 patients with renal malformations, battery of kidney and urinary tract reporter mice, GDNF-RET signaling mutant mice, and pooled and single cell NGS data of developmental series of ENS, sensory neurons and collecting system progenitors expressing RET receptor tyrosine kinase.  Candidates may access jainlab.im.wustl.edu for further information regarding research in the laboratory.
