The team excels at purifying human primary cells from umbilical cord blood, whole blood, bone marrow and various human tissues. Laboratory activities include pooling plasma/buffy coats; processing; identifying; sorting; and tracking various specimens in adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements.
The Role: Duties and Essential Job Functions
To be successful, the Laboratory Technician will do the following:
Receive, log, and trace specimens while following HIPPA regulations for donor/sample security.
Handle, isolate, and characterize human blood and tissues.
Perform existing procedures for flow cytometry, immunostaining, cell separation, and cell counting.
Follow, amend, and submit updates to regulatory documents to continually increase product and workflow quality.
Wear the required appropriate protective equipment and adhere to laboratory aseptic techniques while complying with laboratory safety procedures.
Perform required preventative maintenance procedures on laboratory instrumentation; identify real or potential situations or equipment failure; investigate and resolve technical problems.
Practice Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and participate in continuous improvement.
Other Functions and Responsibilities
Perform tissue culture when assigned.
Flexible work schedule will be needed based on project requirements.
This position will have oversight of no personnel.
Bachelor's level degree in biological science or related discipline; or 1-year laboratory-based experience (college or industry); or a successful completion of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) accreditation program and licensing exam.
Experience with cell isolation and purity techniques.
Experience with flow cytometry, software and applications.
Experience in proper use of micropipettes, serological pipettes, autoclaves, and cryopreservation techniques.
Experience in sterile and aseptic techniques in a laboratory setting.
Excellent at verbal and written communication.
Ability to learn scientific processes in an expedient manner.
Ability to follow protocols to maintain quality systems.
Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
A valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Knowledge of Apple Macintosh Computers.
