Biomedical Equipment Engineer II – Clinical Engineering – Celebration

Celebration Health seeks to hire a Biomedical Equipment Engineer II who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Established in 1997 and now a 203-bed hospital, Florida Hospital Celebration Health was designed as a Mediterranean resort-style facility to serve as a cornerstone of health in Disney’s planned community of Celebration, Florida. The hospital consistently delivers a state-of-the-art healing environment to residents of Osceola, Orange, Polk and Lake Counties, as well as to visitors from across the United States and the world. All within a living laboratory of groundbreaking, research-driven clinical solutions that integrate mind, body and spirit in the defeat of illness and disease.

Department Profile:

As part of Adventist Health System, Florida Hospital central region, The Clinical Engineering (CE) department of Florida Hospital provides for the support, maintenance and safe use of all medical devices across the central region of 8 acute care facilitates. To meet this scope of service, the CE Department oversees the actions of three groups: biomedical service, radiology service and sterilizer service. Each of these three groups performs repair, preventive maintenance and calibration on their respective equipment. The Biomedical services team at our Orlando campus is seeking a qualified candidate to join a dynamic, progressive team of Biomedical equipment technicians and specialist, that are engaged in providing exceptional service to the needs of Florida Hospital.

Work Hours/Shifts:

Monday through Friday; 7a – 3:30p

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Equipment Engineer II, under moderate levels of supervision of Lead Engineer or Department Manager, ensures that diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment is functioning properly and resolves issues of moderate complexity. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

Knowledge of medical equipment

Ability to comprehend technical manuals and instructions

Knowledge of electronics and medical electronics

In depth knowledge of medical equipment test devices

Associates degree in Electronic Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, OR

Equivalent combination of education/training in military, technical schools, or a related field

Minimum of 3 years in a healthcare facility setting or related technical service support role in medical device industry

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:


Job Responsibilities:

Ensures that diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment is functioning properly.

Troubleshoots equipment/devices and resolves issues, escalating where additional support is required.

Completes device repairs.

Performs preventative maintenance.

Completes requisition forms for parts and repairs.

Documents work performed in asset management tool.

Maintains awareness of standards and procedures.

Participates in Biomedical Engineering cross-training as required.

On-Call rotation and flexible work time may be required.

Some travel within the region may be required.
