Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking an Assistant Scientist II in the Genetics, Development and Cell Bio department to conduct research and help coordinate research efforts among multiple collaborating laboratories to assure our laboratory remains on task in multiple projects and meets established milestones.
Responsibilities include contributing to annual progress reports for funding agencies prepared by the project PI, conducting research in support for research projects, including development of innovative solutions for construction and testing of genome editing tools for use in peanut genome editing projects. The candidate will provide training for collaborating laboratory personnel to learn and trouble-shoot needed tools and research techniques, especially in molecular biology and genome editing. The candidate may be responsible for training of one or more ISU or visiting undergraduate or graduate students working on the projects, and training and supervision of one or more postdoctoral associates working on these projects in the Spalding lab.
The successful candidate will help to conceive and design research and will conduct research in support of multiple research projects involving molecular biology, genome editing, genetics, physiology and biochemistry of plants and algae. This will include collaborative research projects funded by multiple sources and involving collaborations with multiple other laboratories, so the successful candidate also will communicate with collaborating laboratories and help coordinate the research efforts with collaborating laboratories to assure our contributions to joint research projects remain on task. The successful candidate also will provide oversight and training for undergraduate students, interns and visiting students and scholars to guide their participation in research projects.
