The Pharmaceutical Development team is seeking a scientist or engineer to develop and optimize the cell culture processes that will support the clinical development of our protein therapeutics. This position will build the internal small-scale cell culture development capabilities within the company, as well as interact with external manufacturing sites and support manufacturing activities as needed.
Start-up a bench scale cell culture process (flask and small single use bioreactors) and create standard (platform) company cell culture processes for the production of protein therapeutics, particularly antibodies.
Implement innovative and efficient cell culture development strategies to increase productivity and reduce the cost of production.
Supply support for the interaction with external manufacturing and development contract manufacturing partners.
Supervise technical transfer between development and manufacturing organizations.
Provide process oversight for cell culture manufacturing operations.
Communicate process results via internal presentations and formal process development reports.
BS 8 years; MS 5 years or PhD 0-2 years of experience in a related life science field.
Hands on experience with small, lab scale mammalian culture bioreactor, preferably fed batch system, and familiarity with large production bioreactors.
Familiarity with large scale manufacturing and technology transfer activities. The ability to work within a quality system is preferred.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to interact on multiple projects and work with external research partners.
Works well in a highly cross functional team environment across the Research and Development groups.
