Careers that Change Lives A Day in the Life As a Senior Biomedical Engineer you will provide technical guidance and support for new and ongoing product development efforts, clinical liaisons and other business partners as appropriate. You will develop and refine analytical test methods for competitive and internal comparative product analyses. Develop, execute and refine bench top, ex vivo and acute and chronic in vivo studies. Prepare technical reports and communicates to internal and external audiences. Distills essential research findings to literature summaries in support of new product launches; trains sales and marketing liaisons. Manages all aspects of new product surgical training labs for surgeons. Participates in core team meetings to provide guidance for early stage products and appropriate test development. Interfaces with quality to facilitate comprehensive product analyses. Manages collaborations internally (team to team) and externally (academic collaborators, clinical research organizations). Presents research findings at national and international conferences. Identifies and collaborates with key opinion leaders to advance product development and research programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Planning and experimental execution; oversee and progress multiple high priority projects concurrently, manage international relationships and collaborative PD efforts * Interface effectively with both highly technical and non-technical partners * Reduce time to market and/or protect timeline to product launch by providing strategic test plans to ensure appropriate data is available for regulatory submissions and sales and marketing collateral * Create comprehensive test plans, analyses and technical summaries; execute plans and supervise activities and personnel as required * Perform competitive product evaluations and report results to liaisons in sales and marketing as appropriate * Utilize basic and advanced statistical and data analysis methods (e.g., Minitab, MS Excel, MATLAB, LabVIEW, other) * Collect and analyze technical data and writes technical summary reports * Adhere to all safety policy procedures * Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation Must Have; Minimum Requirements * BS in biological schience or mechanical/biomedical engineering * Minimum four years medical device product development experience * Skilled scientist or engineer with understanding of biomedical device industry * Demonstrated technical experience in applying bioscience theory to engineering. * Basic proficiency in anatomy and physiology, practical surgical experience a plus * Medical terminology and medical device experience highly desirable * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a publication track record * Computer: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Minitab * Experience in product design and development * Team player, collaborative mindset * High attention to detail * Organized Nice to have; * MS/PhD in biological science or mechanical/biomedical engineering ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE: Reports to Principal Scientist, Technology Center of Excellence Works cross-functionally throughout R&D department with VPs, directors, project managers, research scientists and engineers, pre-clinical and clinical, sales and marketing and legal WORKING CONDITIONS: Standard office setting, engineering lab, wet lab; travel as required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
