A global producer of agriculture products (seed) is looking to hire an R&D leader that can come on board and function as the thought, strategic and people leader overseeing discovery, trait development and analytical services at a corporate R&D center located in Chicago, Illinois.Job would entail leading the Central Service Analytics and Discovery Traits Development units with responsibility for directly managing a staff of four (Plant Pathologist, Analytical Chemist, Patent Administrator and a Research Scientist), indirectly lead a staff of six and manage all development/deployment of molecular marker assays and lab protocols & practices to support global breeding and production.Requirements Qualifications include a Ph.Ddegree in Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology or closely related field preferably with 5 years of experience in leading teams in a matrix organization. Background must include exposure to discovery science as well as experience and/or exposure to innovating and developing genetic engineering techniques. Knowledge of plant transformation, plant regeneration and transformation vector construction desired. Domestic and international travel required (15% to 25%).
