Position Summary

The Department of Pharmacologys mission is to provide quality pre-clinical and clinical education in pharmacology and therapeutics for medical students, to educate and train graduate and postdoctoral biomedical scientists, to carry out basic research of recognized excellence, and to participate in governance and leadership in the College of Medicine at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and in appropriate national scientific and professional societies.

This Research Specialist will be responsible for performing basic and pre-clinical research in the laboratory of Dr. May Khanna.

Significant prior experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques including PCR cloning and western blotting are required. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills and experience in lab management.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform bench research including western blotting, PCR cloning and cell culture maintenance.

- Prepare buffers and reagents.

- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.

- Analyze data and prepare research progress reports.

- Coordinate training of new laboratory members including appropriate online and personal training.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

- Skill in analyzing and evaluating data.

- Skill in report writing.

- Ability to effectively communicate.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience with handling and maintaining mouse colonies.

- Willingness to work independently, acquire new skills, techniques and protocols.

- Data presentation skills.
